Volunteers make it happen!
Volunteering with the Seed Exchange is easy, fun and rewarding. EVERYTHING at the seed exchange is done by volunteers, we depend on you to help!

We need volunteers in 2025!
Volunteer roles:
Set up: help turn the barn into a lively seed exchange. Tables must be set and dressed, catalogs and seeds put on display, vendors and exhibitors brought in and set up. There is literally loads to do, and many hands make light work! (one hour shift starting at 9am)
Clean up/ tear down: the successful completion of this last task ensures we are welcome guests in this space another year. Please consider giving your time at the end of the day to say thank you by returning this space to a condition better than when we found it. (one hour shift starting at 12pm)
Seed Stewards: These are our knowledge people. Give instruction on how to use envelopes, write information or take pictures of seed packets when useful. Experienced gardeners are able, not only to answer questions about seeds and plants, but help guests select the right quantity and type of seed for their situation. But don’t worry – no one knows all there is to know, that’s why there are lots of volunteers with you in the Seed ‘U’, if you feel stumped just ask the person next to you. Someone is likely to have an answer and if not, that’s ok too. We all come to learn. Even seed ‘U’ volunteers! (one hour shifts)
Volunteer benefits:
Early, 9:30 am, access to the seed exchange with your fellow volunteers. That’s one half hour of seed picking before the public opening!
Make personal connections with longtime northwest gardeners
Help pass the love of seed saving and gardening on to others
Make it possible for farmers and small businesses to connect with local gardeners. And get the inside scoop on those farms and businesses
